HeartWise: Blood Pressure Tracker
ALERT: Patch Released Restore Data Lost in v2.1.1 to 3.0 Upgrade
December 7, 2009
We became aware shortly after Apple posted HeartWise 3.0 to the App Store that the application data files were being overwritten when installing the update through the App Store or iTunes for many users. We did not receive a response from Apple to assist in determining the root cause for the App Store / iTunes overwriting the data file during the upgrade. Past users of HeartWise that have upgraded before know this is not a normal occurrence.
Fortunately, HeartWise quietly saves a backup copy of users data in a secondary file - a capability that we put in mainly to assist us in development and testing. We have DEVELOPED A PATCH that for many users who still have this backup file on their devices can attempt to restore the missing data. This patch will not be able to restore data for users who have completely removed and reinstalled the HeartWise application (thus erasing all files) or for whom the App Store / iTunes has erased the backup file during upgrading or subsequent syncs.
It takes a MINIMUM of 14 days to get any software through Apple's approval process (holiday delays not included), so look for this patch to become available after Christmas. As always, we strongly recommend that users export their measurements for safe keeping prior to downloading this or any application update and syncing with iTunes.
This issue only affects HeartWise version 2.1 users who are upgrading to version 3.0. This issue DOES NOT affect new users.

We've Raised The Bar For Blood Pressure Apps
Version 2.1 of HeartWise only hit the App Store a few weeks ago, but we were already hard at work on our next edition. We're proud to announce that HeartWise Version 3.0 is finished and is now available in the App Store.
Trust us when we say that Version 3.0 is absolutely stunning and takes HeartWise to an entirely new level. It has exceeded even our own expectations and we are very excited to bring it to you!
New features include:
- A redesigned data input screen that is as seamlessly intuitive as it is elegant.
- Separate tracking of blood pressure, resting heart rate, and weight.
- Automatic calculation of Mean Arterial Pressure, a key statistic that represents your average blood pressure.
- Support for weight measurements in Imperial (pounds) or metric units (kilograms).
- Even higher-definition charts! Our crisp, clear, easy-to-read charts have been updated with even more precise graphics and detail.
- A centralized charts page that displays all your charts - blood pressure, resting heart rate, and weight, on a single screen.
- Individual details pages that allow you to view, edit, or delete measurements.
- Auto-rotation of charts into full-screen mode! When viewing a measurements details page, simply rotate your iPhone or iPod Touch and your chart will seamlessly auto-rotate and fill the screen to give you a stunningly crisp 480x320 pixels of visual data.
- Vastly improved export features now allow you to export your data as a comma-separated-value list that can be imported into almost any spreadsheet application or directly as an Microsoft Excel-compatible workbook complete with formatting, calculations, and separate worksheets for blood pressure, heart rate, and weight data!
- Inclusion of help screens and quick tips for new iPhone or iPod Touch users.
You wouldn't believe the number of hours of work that have so far gone into HeartWise - an application that we, at first, just "casually hacked out" for a loved family member with a medical need. Creating this application has been a labor of love for us - and it is gratifying to make HeartWise available for everyone who can benefit from it.
Look for Version 3.0 in the App Store now. If you've already purchased a previous version, rest assured you'll receive the update free of charge when it's released.
Please continue to send us your comments and suggestions and we'll keep doing our best to give you want you want.
Thanks for supporting us, and please continue to spread the word!

French and Spanish Speakers Needed!
October 23, 2009
HeartWise is a labor of love - it was originally created for a loved one who sufferes from high blood pressure. We wanted to make it easier for people with high blood pressure to manage their disease and improve their health. Eventually, friends convinced us to make HeartWise available on the App Store so many more people could benefit from it and, hopefully, live healthier lives.
Now we want to expand our reach and help French and Spanish speakers as well. SwEng Corp. needs French and Spanish speakers to help us translate, proofread and verify the French- and Spanish-language versions of HeartWise. Please help us improve this application and help as many users as we can. Please e-mail iphone@swengcorp.com if you would like to help!
